Guests to Wear a Splash of Red for a 1930’s-themed Evening of Food, Cocktails and Live Performance by Foundling Children
The New York Foundling, one of the City’s oldest and largest children and family services agencies, will host a benefit dinner “Tomorrow is Tonight”on November 13, 2012 at the Edison Ballroom in Manhattan. The event, planned in conjunction with Annie The Musical’s return to Broadway, is expected to raise $1 million to support The Foundling’s innovative and nurturing services for New York City children and families in need.
Founded in 1869 as a home for abandoned children, The New York Foundling has continuously and conscientiously expanded its scope of programs to meet the changing needs of the city community. To view more information on the New York Founding, click here.
More than 500 Foundling supporters, all dressed with a splash of red, will enjoy a 1930’s-themed evening with a cocktail menuthat includes Manhattans, Sidecars and Sloe Gin Fizz cocktails. Thirties styled hors d’oeuvres and vegetables stuffed with everything imaginable will be followed by red meat accompanied by layered Idaho potatoes. Dessert? Baked Alaska: just as Annie has in the musical. All healthy and all adjusted to the contemporary palate.
With “Annie” composer Charles Strouse at the piano, the children of New York Foundling will perform a medley including an original rendition of the iconic“NYC” with lyrics celebrating The New York Foundling and written by a New YorkFoundling staff member. Annie the Musical cast members will join the festivities after the show and lead a champagne toast to celebrate the partnership with The Foundling.
