The collaborations of all collaborations hits stores December 1st in time for the Holidays.
If you haven’t heard the news, two very different fashion retailers Target and Neiman Marcus have joined hands. The amazing collection will feature 24 designers from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), and come up with more than 50 “amazing gifts.” All items, which range from $7.99 to $499.99 (most of which are said to be under $60) will be in all locations of both stores and their websites.
The collection of “gifts” will include men’s, women’s, and children’s apparel, accessories, sporting goods (such as a basketball from Rag&Bone), home decor, pet accessories, and electronics accessories. Some designers are staying true to their medium; others are reaching out and designing items they don’t usually produce.
Although I have many mixed feelings about this, the biggest feeling would be excitement. On one hand, it sounds like a great marketing plot for those who know little about the fashion world to have a first look at some new designers that fashionistas drool about. On the other, it sounds like a gimmick with lesser quality materials, and some of the designers “selling out”. Much like buying a fake Gucci bag in the streets of Chinatown, this could hurt the notoriety or specialty of buying high priced fashion goods.
Moving those arguments aside, I will be the first to admit that this line is exciting. From the Alice + Olivia luggage, to the fun Band of Outsiders Holiday “Best Friends” hats, this line holds the fun element of Target, while bringing upper scale items merely aisles away from the dairy section. The online catalog looks amazing, and even better on the cast of Revenge (did you see those marketing videos?!).

Because Target is holding most of Creative under lock and key, here are my favorite items from the list:
