Lower East Side-based theater company, Alacrity Project will present a Monologue Jam on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the popular venue, Arlene’s Grocery. The Jam is part of Alacrity Project’s A Live Series, which provides self-producing artists the opportunity to perform on a black-box-style stage in an alternative environment, and receive professional video-recordings of their performances for use in furthering their art and careers. Video recording for the Monologue Jam will be provided by First Live Studio. The performance will stream live here.
Fifteen performers representing various areas of New York City will perform monologues from an array of contemporary plays and books. All of the actors will be adjudicated by a panel comprised of professional artists and receive a top-quality video recording of their individual performances. Audience members will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite performers. The winning actors will have the opportunity to select from an assortment of prizes such as gift certificates to restaurants and music lessons.
“Artistic collaboration and mutual support gives me the greatest joy. We all have a unique voice to express and point of view to share. Alacrity Project initiated the Alive Series to grow a community for those committed to their dreams, that is fun, active, supportive and a platform for future projects,” said Emily Niewendorp, Artistic Director for Alacrity Project.
Alacrity Project offers performance opportunities and professional video-recordings for self-initiated performers, and produces plays that best showcase the off-beat and unique ways people will fight for their dreams and a better way of living.
