2013 Electric Zoo Festival

The time has come again for Labor Day weekend and while many might be flocking to the beaches for the last time or taking speedy getaway trips, thousands will be rushing to Randall’s Island Park for one of the city’s most notorious summer musical events: The Electric Zoo Festival.

First conceived in 2009, Electric Zoo is an electronic music festival that is held annually. The festival is widely known for its remarkable lineups that incorporate the many flavors of electronic music and bring the hottest DJs and artists from every corner of the globe to four stages for three days, creating an atmosphere that can only be described as exhilarating and magical. After attracting 26,000 people at its first event years ago the festival has since then grown to garner the attention and hearts of over 85,000 ardent fans.

Described by Time Out New York as an event that “transforms Randall’s Island into an Ibiza on the East River every Labor Day”, Electric Zoo has previously been nominated (in 2010 and 2011) for the International Dance Music Awards and has also been considered for the title of the Best Music Event in 2012, despite the infancy of the event.

In previous years the festival has been host to renowned artists such as Dev, Krewella, Skrillex, Major Lazer and Deadmau5. This year’s lineup is equally as thrilling, if not more with legendary artists and DJs like Avicii, Alesso, Tiësto, David Guetta, Steve Aoki, Bassnectar, Datsik, Martin Solveig, Knife Party and Dada Life gracing the stage. The event will be a definite hub for dynamic fans looking to participate in the fifth anniversary of what has quickly become known as New York’s main electronic music event and hoping to hold onto those last fleeting moments of summer with some beautifully dropped beats presented by artists who have promised to break out of their cages like never before.
