“In Between Men,” The hit web series with over 2 million viewers and watched in 150 countries has been selected for both The 9th Annual New York Television Festival (NYTVF) in its Independent Pilot Competition (IPC), and The 21st Annual Raindance Film Festival’s 1st Annual Web Festival.
“Having ‘In Between Men’ selected for two major festivals in two different countries is incredibly exciting and shows just how cross cultural and relatable our show is to such a vast array of people worldwide,” says Quincy Morris, Executive Producer and Creator. “It’s been my dream to be selected for the NYTVF for several years now. It’s grown into such a prestigious festival in our industry. It’s such an honor to be included alongside already established heavyweights from some of the most popular shows on television. And then to find out we are an official selection of Raindance Film Festival’s first Web Festival was truly amazing.”
Jennifer Gelfer, Co-Executive Producer and Director, observes: “I think one of the reasons the show has found a major audience is because it deals so frankly and honestly with developing characters, love, sexuality and the overall arc of life with all of its conflicts, celebrations and relationships of New York City men and women from all walks of life.”
The NYTVF is dedicated to identifying and nurturing top independent creative talent and connecting it with networks, studios, digital media companies and brands. The 47 selected original television pilots for the 9th Annual NYTVF will be presented for industry execs and TV fans at Tribeca Cinemas, with additional festival events at the Tribeca 360 and SVA Theatre from October 21-26, 2013. Development awards are chosen by the network, independent of the jury, and will be presented at the NYTVF Awards Show on Saturday, October 26. The 2013 Festival Development Partners are BET, Channel 4 (UK), CW Digital, IFC, MTV, truTV and VH1.
The London screening of “In Between Men” will take place on Saturday, September 28th, at 5.30 p.m. as part of WebFest Program 3: Making Drama Work Online, at Screen 5, Vue Cinema Piccadilly (Apollo), 19 Regent Street, London. Quincy Morris will be speaking at 8:00 p.m. as part of a special panel discussing product placement & branded content.
“The Executive Producers of “In Between Men” also announced that the hit series was launched on Blip.tv, Monday, Sept 9th, in a two-week marathon of Seasons 1 & 2, with a new episode released every day.
“We’re so thrilled to be partnering with Blip. It’s the best place for an original web series,” says Quincy Morris. “When it comes to digital content, it’s important to diversify your distribution platforms, and we want to reach as many viewers as we can. We worked hard to get viewership into the millions for Season 1. Since Season 2 premiered in February, it has performed exceptionally well under our new pay-per-view model. Every series wants to grow its audience, whether it’s a traditional TV show or a streaming series like ‘In Between Men.’“
“We think giving viewers a variety of options will increase our audience even more,” says Jennifer Gelfer. “Letting them watch ‘In Between Men’ for free through an ad supported model has been one of our primary goals this year. Expanding our distribution network to include Blip allows us to do just that.”
The series’ commercial free option will still be available for a small subscription fee. Those who choose that option get access to additional exclusive content not available on the free viewing option including a special behind the scenes look with the Creator and Director, an anatomy of scenes, and interviews.
In addition to Blip, Season 1 of the show has launched on Amazon Instant Video beginning Monday Sept 9th and Season 2 will be available here.
