Murray Hill sports destination Bottomzup Bar and Grill is ready to crown the city’s best bartender, but this competition won’t feature craft cocktails and uptight judges: they’re inviting New York barflys to work a paid shift with the top three earners taking home a share of five grand! Think you can bring in a winning crowd? Everyone over 21 is eligible, whether you’re an experienced barkeep or used to facing the other side of the taps.
Here’s what makes Bottomzup’s 1st Annual Best NYC Bartender Contest truly unique: it’s a paid gig…and you get an assistant! All competing guest bartenders will take home their share of tips, and will be provided with an assistant bartender and bar back to keep things moving.
Entrants must show up to Bottomzup at 344 Third Avenue on February 19th between 4-7pm when twenty-four participants will be chosen at random and assigned a 4-7pm Happy Hour. These shifts will occur between Mondays and Wednesdays from March 3rd to April 23rd. The top three contestants from the 24 shifts will advance to a showdown stage on April 28th-30th, where the winner will be decided.
On April 30th, the following prizes will be awarded:
1st Place: $3,000
2nd Place: $1,500
3rd Place: $500
Bottomzup opened in November and was promptly named Sports Illustrated’s NYC “Sports Bar on the Rise” with authentic, tailgate-inspired regional cuisine, a full raw bar and in-house sushi chef, and an unparalleled forty-five 60” flat screens. Bottomzup famously allows their customers to call the shots on which games are broadcast in their section, now they’re letting them pour the shots, too!
